Job Description
The Group Financial Manager is responsible for the integrity of the Group’s financial reporting, the consolidation of subsidiary results, and the maintenance of a robust technical accounting framework. The role ensures that the Group meets all South African statutory, tax, and regulatory obligations while providing the Executive Committee with accurate data for strategic decision-making.
Reports to: Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Key Responsibilities
1. Group Consolidation & Reporting
Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidation process for all Group entities.
Prepare the Group’s annual financial statements (AFS) in strict accordance with IFRS.
Standardize the "Reporting Pack" across all subsidiaries to ensure data consistency.
Manage the inter-company reconciliation process and eliminate internal margins/transactions.
2. Taxation & Treasury
Oversee Group Tax Compliance, including Corporate Income Tax (CIT), VAT, and Dividends Tax.
Manage Transfer Pricing documentation between South African entities and any foreign subsidiaries.
Monitor Group cash flow and liquidity; manage the "Central Treasury" function to optimize interest income/expense.
Liaise with the South African Reserve Bank (SARB) for any cross-border reporting or approvals.
3. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with the Companies Act 71 of 2008 and the King IV Report on Corporate Governance (if applicable in an unlisted environment).
Act as the primary point of contact for External Auditors, managing the year-end audit process to ensure a "clean" audit opinion.
Ensure all CIPC filings are up to date for the Holding Company and its subsidiaries, with regular follow up of the Company Secretary.
4. Financial Oversight & Internal Control
Partner with the Internal Audit Manager to close control gaps identified in audits.
Implement and maintain Group-wide financial policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Review subsidiary performance against budgets and provide variance analysis to the Group CFO.
5. Insurance & Risk Management
· Claims Mastery: Manage the end-to-end insurance process, from "chasing claims to conclusion" to aggressive 3rd party recoveries.
· Risk Reporting: Conduct formal quarterly insurance reviews, managing the Group Aggregate measurement and defining risk limits.
6. Strategic Support & M&A
Assist the CFO in due diligence for potential acquisitions or disposals.
Integrate newly acquired entities into the Group’s financial reporting framework.
Model the financial impact of proposed Group restructures or dividend declarations.
Job Requirements:
Qualifications: CA(SA) is highly preferred (or CIMA with extensive Group experience).
Experience: 5–8 years of post-article experience, with at least 3 years in a Group environment or a complex multi-entity structure.
Technical Skills:
Expert knowledge of IFRS.
Proficiency in Consolidation Software (e.g., CaseWare, SAP BPC, Hyperion or Cognos).
Strong understanding of the SA Income Tax Act and VAT Act.
Competencies:
Exceptional attention to detail (non-negotiable for consolidations).
Ability to influence Finance Managers / Directors at the subsidiary level without direct line-management authority.
High level of resilience and the ability to meet strict "JSE-style" reporting deadlines.
